How Do We Determine What Products Are Destroyed?
As part of our custom zero landfill and sustainability operations, our team at LJP Waste Solutions also offers product destruction services. Typically, when you choose to work with our team to reach your sustainability goals, we diagnose your current waste processing system before implementing a new, more efficient system. From there, we send large trucks to your facility on set days to retrieve your materials and bring them to our facility. However, there are some materials that cannot be recycled or converted to Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF).
If there are materials that cannot be recycled, composted, or converted into RDF for Xcel Energy, the material is then sent to the Blue Earth County Ponderosa Landfill, which we operate. If we have to put materials in the landfill, we ensure it’s done in an efficient, controlled manner. Additionally, if you send us materials you want destroyed that cannot be reused, we will destroy them for you so they’re not taken from the landfill by someone who did not pay for them.
How Are Products Destroyed?
With the various equipment we offer for rent or purchase at LJP, we have the ability to do just about anything when it comes to waste solutions. If you would like products you sent us destroyed, or if we cannot recycle certain materials and they need to be destroyed, we take them to a controlled area to monitor the destruction process. We can destroy a variety of items, including:
- Manufacturing Products
- Misprints
- Coupons
- Phone Cards/Business Cards
- Trading Cards
- Cigarette Dollars
- Payroll Records
- Confidential Medical and Other Records
- Valuable/Private Material
To shred and destroy the waste products, we place them in a large hammer mill that has a six-inch screen in it. This shredder can destroy virtually anything in its path. For instance, if you place a couch in the machine, it would quickly shred it into hundreds of pieces, all six-inches or smaller. The extra materials are shredded in the hammer mill before being mechanically separated by size and density. The products that cannot be recycled are sent to the landfill.
Product Destruction for RDF
In addition to shredding materials, products can also be destroyed for Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) purposes. After the materials are put through the hammer mill and shredded, the metal pieces are magnetically fished out for recycling purposes. Then, the shredded material that can be converted into fuel is gathered and sent to the Wilmarth Power Plant to be used as clean fuel.
Secure and Sensitive Material Destruction
We can destroy old medical records and other sensitive materials at our facility. We even have a trained officer on staff to provide security for the destruction process. Additionally, we can provide certified forms and video proof that the materials were destroyed.
